Engine Repair in Williamstown, NJ
Bringing the Heat
Literally, your automobile “brings the heat.” As the engine operates, friction and combustion generate tremendous heat. While that’s necessary and appropriate for making the power that moves your car, there’s a fine line between controlling the heat to be productive and not harmful, and a blazing temperature that creates damage. Integrity Automotive NJ in Williamstown, New Jersey, figuratively, “brings the heat” to engine repair. Our experienced ASE-certified technicians work on all makes and models. We’ve been helping motorists in the area with overheating and other engine concerns since 1999. A solid 24-month/24,000-mile warranty backs our work. We also make your visit convenient. Take advantage of after-hours drop-off, complimentary shuttle service, and loaner cars.
The Cooling System
To counteract the excessive heat, your vehicle has a cooling system in place. What we commonly call “water” is water combined with coolant antifreeze. Its chemical properties are such that it helps lower temperature, prevent freezing in winter, and proactively guard against interior rust and corrosion. After it absorbs heat in the engine block, it circulates through a water hose to the radiator. There, it travels through small tubes designed with exterior fins to allow maximum air exposure to dissipate heat. A fan blows even more air across the fins than they would catch naturally to further accelerate cooling. Cooled fluid flows back to the engine block to repeat the process. The coolant solution circulates through the system by the force of a water pump, and a thermostat regulates the necessary flow.
Overheating Engine Repair
While your car operates at a temperature that is certainly too hot to touch, once it crosses the threshold of safe operation, it is considered to be overheating. Your dashboard light will likely display a high temperature warning, and you may see steam or smell the distinctive odor of hot fluid. You should never continue driving a vehicle in this condition. Overheating can quickly lead to extensive damage or even catastrophic engine failure. If your engine is overheating, calling for a tow to reach our shop is best. Our professional team can help you with the underlying cause of the high operating temperature, including repair/replacement of the water pump, radiator, thermostat, fan, or water hoses.
